Some of you may remember that 18 months ago I spent a month with my right arm in a wrist brace and sling, while the inflammation went down.
What I haven't mentioned is that the problem is still there, and makes doing much sewing or knitting painful. It flares up badly every time I do a big batch of marking.
So this is actually one of the reasons why I've enjoyed kumihimo so much. Because once i got a marudai, kumihimo is actually very low stress on my hand, and is soothing and calming, and allows lots of small achievable projects.
My latest crafty addiction is making what Z calls 'maglet people'. You print out the people and clothiung from the website
http://www.makingfriends.com/f_Friends.htm, cut them out (I can cut IF I use my nifty ergonomic scissors, otherwise OWIES). Then stick the clothes on the people, run them through a laminator, and stick a magnet on the back. Very popular with three years olds. They stick to whiteboards, the fridge, the washing machine etc.
I started out making a variety from the website.
Then I had the idea of making a Village People set. This involved a bit of fudging the clothes from the website.
Then I made a set representing the saturday morning ballet class. Bit of altering to get the outfits right.
Then I made a set of costumes from various ballets. This was starting to require lots of changes to the original designs.
And just then I realised that the Biblical designs could be easily altered to medieval outfits. And then I could make maglet people of all my SCA friends.....
