Introducing Isis

Usually I decide on a cat name before we get the cat, and generally (well, two out of three times so far) the name really suits the cat. Hermes did get called Horatio for two days until I decided that he wasn't clever enough to be a Horatio.

Two days ago, I suddenly had a brilliant idea about what to call our next cat- Isis. It fitted in with our general theme of deity names (Freya, Hermes) and JB thought that it would be a good name for a lean, Egyptian looking cat.

Today we went to the RSPCA. We were looking for a young female cat, up to two years old. I had an image of a greyish coloured cat, maybe a bit fluffy. We needed a playful and affection cat, that would get along well with Hermes.

But they didn't have any youngish cats, but there were lots of kittens.

When we said that we needed a cat that was ok with being an inside cat for most of the time, the girl said that there was a kitten that needed to be an inside cat, and she took us out to meet her. And immediately this little kitten was playing with us, purring, licking my fingers and following us around the enclosure.

So Isis is a black & white kitten, 3 1/2 months old, a skinny build. She has a deformed iris in her left eye, so the pupil is a funny shape and doesn't react well to bright light, so she can't go outside in bright light (she has been checked out by a vet).

So far Hermes is following her around, they have sniffed noses several times, but aren't playing together yet. No fighting. Right now she is sitting next to me, purring her little head off.
