I don't want to snitch, but is Bobby really a doctor?

I’ve come to realize that MapQuest sucks. Today I used it to get directions to a furniture rental place (I need a couch and apparently they sell the used stuff people return after rental for cheap prices). The directions were easy enough, until I got to a road that DOES NOT EXIST! I followed the directions explicitly. I watched my odometer to make sure I would find the road at the distance MQ gave me. I even went further just to make sure the mileage was a little short. I followed that damn road until it ended and never found the road I was supposed to turn off onto. Somehow I made it to Kutztown, but not my real destination (only a select few will understand that joke). This isn’t the first time MQ has given bad directions. Another time I used it, one of the roads I was to travel on was called ‘local road’. A lot of help you are, MapQuest.

While I’m bitching, I’d like to rant about Ikea furniture. Some of the crap that you have to put together is such a pain in the ass. And they only have pictures for directions, rarely words. I realize this is because these products are sold in many different countries and they don’t want to translate and print directions in twenty different languages, but sometimes you NEED words to clearly explain a step. Like, if there are two pieces that are similar, perhaps the only difference is one has an extra hole or the cutout is slightly larger. It’s not always obvious to which piece they are referring. Plus, the low cost stuff just feels somewhat junky. You really need to spend more and get the more expensive stuff to get a piece of furniture that feels solid. I’m not talking 1950s solid; I’m talking present-day throwaway society solid, which isn’t saying much.

I don’t think anyone that reads this journal (all two of you) knows, but I was in a car accident a couple weeks ago. No one was hurt, but my NEW CAR got its driver’s side door smashed in when someone rammed me while I was changing lanes. It’s a good thing my NEW CAR has side impact beams, otherwise I probably would have a broken leg. If I would still have my Saturn, which didn’t have side impact beams, it would not have been a pretty sight. So although my NEW CAR got smashed up a little (actually, the impact was so hard, the door was curled away from the frame and could not be opened - I had to crawl out the passenger door to get out), it’s a damn good thing I was driving something with more safety features. It’s fixed and looks brand new, so all’s well that ends well.

The latest band that I’ve discovered is Rooney. They remind me of Weezer, so if you like Weezer I think you’ll like Rooney. Check the Best Buy ads, they’ve been selling it for $7 some weeks. It’s a self-titled album, so look for it!

Well, I think it’s off to list some stuff on eBay. Don’t I have a fun Saturday evening planned?
