How sweet it is

For my birthday, Marci gave me the option of going to any restaurant of my choice. I chose the Sweetwater Tavern, which I've heard was pretty good. What I didn't realize is that the restaurant has a cowboy/country theme, complete with country music playing and a Santa Fe motif. Since it was Friday night, it was very busy and loud, which meant I couldn't hear the country music at all, thank goodness.

I ordered their 16-oz prime sirloin, and it was fantastic, easily the best steak I've ever had. It was so succulent that the meat fell apart in your mouth, very tasty. Oh man, I wish I had another one RIGHT NOW. Marci got the salmon, which was also excellent. I'd highly recommend them on their food alone, but that's not all! They brew their own beer, something like 30 varieties, which is also excellent. I got the sampler, which has a little 4- or 6-oz pilsner glass with each of the beers they currently have on tap. Their lager and bock are particularly good, and the ales and light beers weren't bad (I'm not a fan of ales).

Despite all that, I can't foresee myself going back--I hate country motif places that much. But, if you happen to be in the NoVA area and want a good steak (and don't loathe country motifs), then the Sweetwater Tavern might be good for you.

Marci and I also played racquetball twice last week. My apartment complex has a fitness and weight room, along with tennis courts and an indoor racquetball court, so I figured I'd take advantage of that convienence. Neither of us have played before, but it looked like fun so we gave it a try. It is fun, but it reminded me of how out of shape I am and how hard I need to work when my shoulder is all better. It's also harder to pick yourself up off the floor after falling while chasing the ball when your shoulder doesn't like that, but I digress.

GO EAGLES!
