Entryway challenge

Oct 08, 2007 13:59

I've just reorganised my entryway and it looks so much better than it did, I thought I'd post pictures. :)

The view from the hall with the door held open. I don't really have a foyer. Just a triangular area created by the diagonal wall and the couch. The table was originally in the dining room and there was a small bookcase with cds over here and the boxes you see stashed under the table.

The view of the diagonal wall straight on. I had to move a chair to get this picture. I really don't have much space over here, but the living room furniture almost makes it a separate area, so I consider it one.

All of the books on the table are either books from the library where I work or giveaways/ARCs I need to take there. The printer is also going to the library.

The boxes contain unread books, which I'm slowly working on reading and surround the shredder to protect the cord from bunny teeth. I'd like to have a small trash can over here, but I haven't found one I like yet.

The picture I got at a conference when I was an undergraduate in medieval and renaissance studies. The Hebrew is the first word of the bible. Not going to try to sort out the transliteration, but it means "In the beginning". I'm not very religious, but I like the print which is done on homemade paper.

The hook needs to be reseated as the holes I drilled to hang it were too close together and eventually I'll hang the shelf holding the books about a foot under the picture. My walls are concrete, which makes hanging things tricky, but I put up the hook about a year ago and it's come in very handy for keeping track of keys and bags (including my lunch box which you can see in the photo).

In the background you can see the bunny's play area (the cardboard boxes) and a corner of the bunny's cage. The end table by the couch is piled with yarn at the moment.

The area still needs to be vacuumed, but it looks much better than it did.

The front hall closet (which isn't quite in the entryway) is next, but I'll tackle that after Sarah Jane Adventures
