Glenn Haege: You can do it!
Repair gutters now to prevent troubles later

Leaves, twigs and anything else you can think of can get caught in them. In the winter, ice dams form from them. What are these troublesome parts of our homes? Gutters ... and summer is the perfect time to inspect them and seal any leaks before the damage gets out of control and replacement is required....

Gutter repair
Tools: Drill, screwdrivers, caulk gun, stiff-bristled brush, putty knife.

Materials: Siliconized acrylic caulk, steel wool, Wet Stick Plastic Roofing Cement, metal flashing

Broken Joints

1. Remove the broken joint from the gutter and clean completely.

2. Add caulk to the damaged part and reassemble the joint.

3. Inside the gutters, use a wire brush and steel wool to clean the area. Make sure to remove all residue.

4. Put a layer of Wet Stick Plastic Roof Cement on the damaged area.

5. Take a piece of metal flashing and install it over the roofing cement. Feather out the edges to reduce ridges.
