It's time to get serious. I did so well senior spring, quite possibly the most successful two months of my entire life, and I've graduated from Stanford. Why do I not have something to show for it now? Yesterday was the 5th anniversary of my grandmother's death, which hopefully will motivate me to get back on track. It's what motivated me so much senior year of high school and what I think is one of the reasons I did so well then. I feel like I should just stay up and work because I'm getting motivated now, but I also want to keep going to sleep at a normal time. I've been going to bed by about 1:30, my alarm is set at 10:30 though recently I haven't actually gotten out of bed till 11 or 11:30. It's time to become confident (or at least act like I am), "network" (god I hate that word and idea), make plans for the future, and go and get it. WIN THE FUTURE.
I let the deadline on the ecology summer internship in Minnesota pass, but I have plenty of time for this English teaching in Japan one. They've only hired Stanford grads for the past 20 years so I mean, I got a good chance right? I've already let this cover letter stagnate for like a month and a half, let's finish it up. Also need to start looking into maybe being a lab assistant or something at Rice, or maybe Stanford, hell. Or other environmental science-related jobs. As my to-do list says, DO SOMETHING GOD DAMNIT. Yeah that sounds about right.
In other news, in the past few weeks I have: cleaned out the sink drain (it was disgusting) and cracked part of the pipe but replaced it and it seems to be fine, no leaks... in the process of recaulking various parts of the bathroom, repaired a shower leak, going to repair the other shower's new leak. Running more: did a 10 mile last Saturday, apparently did about a 45-min 6 miler today, running about 5 days a week now, with a 10K coming up next Saturday. And getting back in the swing of "taking" CS 106A. I'm working on assignment 5, Hangman, right now. Got the basic functionality down, need to get the visuals working and then add a comprehensive word list. I wonder though, what an interviewer will think when I tell him that this is what I'm doing with my time: running, assorted home improvement projects, and brushing up on programming.
