i have my first clinical on friday! we are going to the VA hospital in vancouver. I will get a partner and we will be assigned a patient and monitor their vitals for the morning. I am so excited even though it is such a simple clinical. i am also nervous. ive done vitals millions of times in lab and practicing at home, but this will be a real person in a hospital. crazy! After that i have my first lab practical exam, which is also on vitals, so it will be good cuz i will have practiced all morning. haha. after that it is fall break! i could not be more excited for a week off of school. but its more like school-at-home-break, because i have way too much stuff to catch up on and study. i have to know like a bajillion drugs before monday the 22nd, write a paper based on an interview with my community partner, a small group project, i need to do a drug calculation tutorial and pass the online test with 100%, continue work for a big group project due at the end of the semester, and study for a fundamentals test the week after we get back. there is probably more that i am forgetting. if i have time inbetween all of that i want to make a purse. I do have one thing to look forward to which is that we get to learn catheter incersion in lab when we get back! that seems like an odd thing to be excited about. oh well.
i reeeeeeaaaaalllllyyyyyy want to go abroad and learn either german, italian, or french. but that will have to be a project done after i graduate. 1 and 3/4 years!
patrick starts his internship on saturday. he will work 24 hour shifts every three days until he has 540 hours min. and a specific number of calls under his belt. i calculated that he could do it in 22.5 shifts.
there is no J street in vancouver. I-5 is where it should be. this is odd to me.
