end of the 'not real world'?

i graduated today. the ceremony was nice. the first speaker made it very personal. and it wasn't just the valedictorian types speaking.

i figured out the reason why graduates have to wear those funny hats. it's so that they don't get sunburnt as they wait for the whole half-hour for their names to be called.

they pronounced my name right. i think that's a first. unfortunately they messed up the casing. oh well. i'll just have to marry someone with an easy last name. that ought to take care of it.

my favorite part is when the speaker says, "ladies and gentlemen, i present to you the graduating class of 2006!" and then everyone goes yay! and throws their hat. well apparently everybody was screaming prematurely and we missed the whole moment so there was only one hat thrown. the person who got hit with it went uninjured.

my mom took me out and spoiled me afterward. she bought me 9 sunflowers, lunch, a hello kitty graduate balloon, and ice cream. jeez. i made like 70 bucks in graduation cards today. that was cool. i feel special.

i am glad that i graduated. i was walking only because other people wanted to see me do it. but it gives a nice sense of closure and accomplishment. and if i ever doubt that it is over i can just wake up and see that huge balloon floating in my room.

more people than i thought came to my graduation. i was happy to see them. and i got free stale cake and lemonade.
