OK, so I've been thinking about doing this for a while, and hopefully putting a stake in the sand here by declaring my intent will get me motivated. I've had some weird things happen in my life that individually don't seem to be that big of a deal, but looked at as a whole make for interesting pieces of a life. It wouldn't fill a book, but maybe it will provide some entertainment for the few people who stumble across this. Plus, it will help me to remember them later on, because some of them are already getting fuzzy. The stories I plan to recount in later posts include:
- How my car was stolen twice, and recovered both times (the second recovery is especially interesting). The car was actually stolen another time from the guy I bought it from, and he was extremely lucky to get it back then. I think the car may have been charmed more than me.
- Getting held up on the day Princess Diana died. I'm fairly certain the two were unrelated, but it was a strange coincidence nonetheless. (OK, this story just pretty much sucked for me, but it was still a memorable event.)
- A crazy/cracked-out (not sure which) woman showed up on my porch one evening and tried to talk her way into my house. This conversation got surreal in a hurry, but I won't give it away yet.
- Early in my college career, walking across campus late one drunken, snowy (meteorologically, not pharmacologically) night and having some guy just materialize in front of me and start talking at me. It was totally one-sided, but non-threatening, and it totally blew my already impaired mind. Unfortunately, that one happened so long ago that I don't remember many details of what he said to me, which makes me sad. For some reason I thought of that recently, and not being able to remember many details of it was the impetus behind this post.
- Driving two hours by myself one-way, spur of the moment, to get a 10-ga. apadravya done. If you don't know what an apadravya is, it's an extremely intense male-specific body piercing. That's all I'll say for now. Check BME if you want to know more.
There are also at least three other totally over-the-top stories that I can think of, but they also involve close friends of mine that may not appreciate having the stories made public, even anonymously. I'll need to think over those before I post them here. At any rate, the above should keep me busy for a while. Stay tuned!
