Age: 78. (Mickey Mouse was created in 1928 - Kingdom Hearts 2 was released in 2005. Canonly, it's indicated that Mickey is of great age and is very wise... so 78 sounds good to me.)
History: When you first see King Mickey, he is shown through the shadows, giving a message to his faithful dog, Pluto, to deliver to Donaldo and Goofy in Disney Castle. The note only reads one thing, but that one message would ultimately change the course of the universe.
King Mickey's instruction?

Throughout the plot of Kingdom Hearts, while Donald and Goofy find the 'Key', a boy named Sora who wields the Keyblade, Mickey himself is traversing through the world to understand the Darkness that is quickly spreading throughout the worlds. He passes through the Corridor of Darkness, in Traverse Town, where he finds the Keyblade of the Realm of Darkness. It is within the Realm of Darkness that he finds Riku, where he asks about the true nature of Riku's Heart.
At the end of Kingdoms Heart, Mickey helps Sora seal Kingdom Hearts to stop the Heartless from escaping from it, choosing to seal himself inside alongside Riku, within the Realm of Darkness, leaving Sora, Donald, and Goofy to continue their journey onwards without them.
In Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Sora and his gang enter Castle Oblivion, believing that King Mickey is being kept there. However, Mickey doesn't appear before anyone until you reach the basement, but even then, Mickey only appears to Riku, to assist him in battling against his inner darkness.
Before Riku battles Ansem, the boy tries to make Mickey promise to destroy him if the darkness overpowers him once again. Mickey stoutly refuses, instead promising to save Riku and break through the darkness. Riku ultimately wins the battle, but Ansem seizes control of the boy. Mickey, as promised, fights against the darkness within Riku's heart to save him.
Once they leave the castle, Riku and Mickey part ways... but they will eventually meet again.
In Kingdom Hearts II, Mickey first appears at Sora's side, to help the hero fight off a hoard of Nobodies. After the battle, Mickey instructs Sora to visit his old master, Yen Sid, after delivering a pouchful of money that Riku gave him to deliver to Sora. After the brief meeting, Mickey leaves. When Sora meets up with Yen Sid, the old wizards states that the reason Mickey left Disney Castle in the first place was to research the Heartless and track the whereabouts of the Organization.
Sora runs into Mickey again at Hollow Bastion, where Mickey informs Sora of the true identity of the evil Ansem -- the Nobody Xemnas -- and the scientist Xehanort. However, whenever Sora asks, Mickey does not tell him anything about Riku. Luckily -- or unluckily -- a hoard of Heartless attack the castle, which Mickey helps defend them. He then orders Donald, Goofy, and Sora to leave the castle, for their own safety, but they disobey him in order to save Leon. When Mickey finds them again, he seems angry at the insubordination, but he quickly forgives them when he sees how eager they are to help.
Later, in the frantic battle to save Hollow Bastion, Goofy takes what appears to be a fatal blow to the head. The normally jovial and composed mouse is consumed with rage, whipping off his Organization XIII cloak, swearing that he will make the Heartless and Ansem pay for what they had done. He takes off, by himself, killing Heartless as he goes. Once he discovers Goofy is actually alive, he is relieved... but not enough so that when he witnesses Xemnas, he jumps into a dark void after him without hesitation, leaving Sora and his friends behind.
Mickey reappears once more in Twilight Town, in order to find a way into The World That Never Was. This culminates the final battle: Mickey goes ahead to locate Ansem the Wise. When he finally does, Ansem the Wise creates a machine to transform Kingdom Hearts into pure data... which backfires, the machine exploded. When Xemnas turns up, Sora and Riku alone can proceed. Mickey, Kairi, and the others are sent through a portal to Destiny Islands, because Xemnas is an utter troll.
Where they wait until Sora and Riku end the Organziation's plot. They reunite on the Destiny Islands, celebrating the saving of their world. Eventually, Mickey is sent back home, to Disney Castle, where he finally reunites with his wife, Queen Minnie.
Personality: Mickey is, first and foremost, humble. He is always willing and ready to fight for his allies without acknowledging how powerful he truly is. As a wielder of the Keyblade to the Realm of Darkness, Mickey is one hot-shot mouse -- but he never brags about what he has accomplished or, really, that he is even a king. He is kind, just, and amicable -- always ready with a smile and a helping hand, no matter who you are or what you do.
That being said, Mickey is a fiercely loyal and just person. He treasures his subjects and would do anything for his friends... which means that if you decide to screw with one of his friends, you had better be prepared to fight off an overlarge mouse with a Keyblade that unlocks the power of darkness, because Mickey will come after you. And he will win. He will always fight, until his last breath, for light and good -- and, above all else, his friends and family.
So long as you don't mess with his friends, though, you'll have yourself a friend until the very end of time. Mickey will always have your back, even if he isn't always there, and is always prepared to work for what he needs to do. He's diligent, determined, passionate, and is the coolest mouse you will ever meet.
Third-Person Sample: Mickey raised Star Seeker to eye level, his eyes fixated on the Heartless before him. Gone were any traces of the jovial light-hearted mouse that many of his subjects knew and loved.
He was a Master Keyblade Wielder, fighting for his world.
And, in the blink of an eye, Mickey darted forward, Star Seeker slashing forward, a brilliant burst of light exploding from the tip of the Keyblade.
"Holy Burst!"
And a massive radius around Mickey cleared abruptly of Heartless, vanishing in the blink of an eye, their Hearts finally freed.
"C'mon, we've gotta lotta work to do!" Mickey called over his shoulder, pressing forward into the halls of Hollow Bastion. "They're gonna overtake the hall soon if we don't hurry!"
