OH GOSH THE WOLVES. ARTEMIS LOVES THE WOLVES SO MUCH. See, her canon day job is a professional dog-walker! She is good with dogs and getting dogs to work with her, but at the same time she is always super disappointed with them! The reason she works with them is because she misses her original pack of hunting hounds; the dogs Artemis owned and loved were feral and wild and fierce, much closer to wild wolves than dogs. But because the Greek gods' powers faded and their range of influence shrank and there was no way to support actual living creatures on their property anymore, she was forced to kill her pets. They are her Big Sad Thing in the book, those dogs; she looks for echoes of them in every canine she meets but in canon she only encounters domestic ones who are tame and slow and dumb in comparison.

So she was overjoyed to arrive in camp and find that not only is she getting stronger, but that there are PROPER dogs and wolves here. Not only some with the proper hunting instinct and wild habits she loves, but some who are actually intelligent. Who understand her in a way humans and even other gods don't-she prefers the company of beasts and in camp that company can actually answer back, oh my gosh! And she's also a lot more forgiving of animals' social fallacies than those of humans, in general. And the wolves are her biggest favorites of all.

Basically we need to thread more! On a visceral level Artemis approves more of Kiba because he's so no-nonsense and she can feel a lot more of the 'wild' coming from him-but she was also disconcerted during their first meeting, because, well. He'd been in human form. Toboe she is a little disappointed with because of his timidity/learning that he'd used to live with humans, but she can kind of see the steps he's taken away from that and she's rapidly developing a big soft spot for him. SO WEAK.
