It's a simple trick, really.

-Momiji walks over to the cat, kneeling before it. She extends her hand low and below the cat's nose, offering the back of it for a sniff.-

[the cat seems to get along with with Momiji, licking the girl's hand before rubbing it's head against her]

[Suzaku just watches quietly and with a bit of disappointment]

And given I am a wolf, I imagine this behavior would have similar, if not better, results for a human.

I wonder about that. [watches the cat which is enjoying the attention very much] All the cats I've encountered have never taken a liking to me.

[except maybe Arthur, but Suzaku had been looking after him for over a year and he still gets bitten and scratched on a constant basis]

Another solution is having allowing a bit of catnip to be taken beneath your fingernails.
