What -- is this.

[the single brief thought does no justice to the confusion in Phantom's mind, even as his face betrays not a hint of that confusion. but seeing a macabre dancer stopped dead in Mac Anu's courts is likely a dead give away in any case ...]

I -- alive. Human, apparently. How?

[Look further into the crowd, Phantom, and you may spot someone familiar trying to glean information from those who are still awake, a hard, serious look about her-- rare, for Leviathan.

But Leviathan nonetheless.]

Nothing, huh? Even after all this time... doesn't anyone know anything new about this yet?

[well, now.]

[and as always, a good thing to observe that in such a crisis as this seems to be, Leviathan will set aside her usual frivolity ... which means, of course, that Phantom glides closer, within earshot.]

[sneaking? him? never.]

[truly.]

New, as opposed to what level of prior information?

[As if she wasn't on edge enough already. The girl freezes on the spot upon hearing that voice--

that voice--

--and stiffly, cautiously responds, not turning to look; rather, not sure if she ought to believe her own senses or not.]

... Phantom?

[that's not a flicker of a little smile, either. definitely not.]

[such a good thing she has not turned to face him.]

That surely confirms my own suspicion of your identity.

Am I that frightening?

[Were it any other day, she might have laughed, loud and clear as the water she cherished so-- but for now, all Phantom gets is a small huff before she turns full on to face him, expression a mix of amazement and quiet relief.

It hadn't been long since they'd parted last-- if that dream had counted for anything-- but at the same time, it had felt like ages.]

'Frightening' isn't the word I'd use.

[behind the partial mask, one brow lifts.]

And you would use what --?

[is she also human in this place?]

'Surprising', I guess. It's the timing, see.

[If the long blue hair and exposed, seamless skin is any indication...

Leviathan sighs again, smile fading somewhat. Of all the times for him to show up... this was unfortunate.]

[at least they're in a similar situation, it occurs to him]

What about the timing?

Does this concern my demise, or the events in this city? Or is it both?

sirenspear December 20 2010, 06:45:08 UTC
...You could say it's both. [She didn't really know how to respond, so vaguely did the best she could. After all, it's been a while since she last saw him, even if it was just a dream. Was it?]

I'd love to explain the details, but nobody's been saying much. It's all a big mess in this world...

It is not like you to react like this.

What has happened to you, specifically?

[because there must be something.]

It's Harpuia.

He and a number of other people around here recently fell into a deep sleep, and for days no one's been able to figure out how to wake them.

[And he's right. She wouldn't normally be this stressed, but when it hit so close to home...]

I ... have heard about this affliction, whatever it may be.

[Leviathan's stressed explanation brings him up short as he considers the vulnerability of these new bodies ...]

A few days?

Have you recalled issues such as water, at the least?

sirenspear December 20 2010, 07:22:47 UTC
You'll have to elaborate, Phantom. "Water"'s a broad term.

[A slight pause] ...If it counts for anything, I've had some help from more knowledgeable people taking care of him in the meantime.

[little smile ~]

Humans die without nourishment or hydration far more quickly, and permanently, than we once would have been capable of.

But if you have had aid, I expect they know that.

Oh, so that's what you're worried about? I'll assure you we figured that out quite some time ago~

Enough to know what to do when the other is unconscious for days?

[testing? possibly ~]
