[ Spin is at a nighttime, low level field trying to get some first hand experience of the World in. It took him three tries at random key words before he found a field that was low enough for a level one Macabre Dance to even think about going into

[Mai says nothing, but walks up behind him and then next to him, her blade at the ready. She'll help him fight if he needs it.]

[ Spin hears her before he sees her and nods. He likes these odds a lot better. ] Start with this big guy first then go to the one in the back?

[ He lowers his center of gravity and waits for the monster to attack, so he can dodge and counter-attack. His reactions are going to be slower than normal; something tells he'll be using a whole different set of steps for this. ]

[She nods in return, tightening her grip on the blade. Her reflexes aren't as good as they used to be thanks to the strangeness of this world--and that's troublesome. But she shows no fear, and, not knowing of Spin's plan, rushes in to attack the monster.

Her attempt doesn't do much damage, but it's a start.]

[ ... or that could work too. Spin abandons his previous plan for the most part and chases after the girl to attack the same monster right after she does. ]

[ Following her lead, Spin lives up to his codenamesake and performs a spinning attack with his fans dealing small amounts of damage. Their attacks start to add up. ]

[She's relieved that this stranger looks like he can hold his own against the monsters--she won't have to spend the battle fretting.

Between the two of them, it soon looks like it's on its last leg, so to speak! But there's still the one in the back to take care of...]

[ If things ever get really bad, he'd start cheering the girl on, but what they are doing works. The first monster falls just in time for them to start on the next, which shouldn't have any surprises for them. Spin dodges an attack with a half step and twirl, then hits the monster with a fan. ]

[Ouch, that did a fair bit of damage to the monster! Mai, still not saying a word, gets in a few good hits on it too.

And soon it falls, just like the other one.]

[ Spin lets out a breath as the last monster falls. They won! ]

Thanks for helping me back there! I'm Spin.

[She nods.]

Kawasumi Mai. [She introduces herself, but says nothing else. It'll become obvious quickly that she's not quite the talkative type...]

I was trying to earn some items for the guild to use, but... [ Spin looks out across the field. ] I guess it's gonna be harder than I thought with where I'm at now.

Level up. [she tells him this flatly.]

[ Spin looks out to nowhere. ]

... Yeah. [ From what he has heard, fighting the monsters won't do that though. ] Guess I'll have to skip back then.
