That was what he was after all - what he had agreed to become - and there wasn't anyone to blame for this other than himself. It was easier to accept back in Britannia (not Britannia) when he had purpose and a goal to work towards

[It's only been three days, but Kairi has learned quite a bit about her surroundings. At least, to her, it's quite a bit. She's wandering the town as well, trying to get a better feel for it. Halfway between Central District and the harbor, she notices the meandering path of the stranger.]

[It's not in her nature to impose, but it is in her nature to try to help. She directs her steps in his direction, leaning a bit to try to catch his attention with a curious face.]

Excuse me..?

[and catch his attention she does!]

Hm? [and his expression turns to one mildly curious look. This place was different from Britannia all together]

[She instantly flashes him a bright, genuine smile. Well, hello there.]

I don't want to bother you, but will you come with me to the harbor?

I don't mind. Is there something you need?

Uhm... Sort of. Come on.

[She's feeling rather bright today, can you tell? She gives him another smile over her shoulder as she starts leading him. They aren't far off, anyhow.]

[he just stares at her a moment more before he follows after. Whatever it was, perhaps it would take his mind off of Nunnally's disappearance]

[She walks with her hands behind her back, one hand cupped in the other.]

My name is Kairi. What's yours?

[he stays a step behind her, steps even and with soldier-like precision]

Zero. It's a pleasure to meet you, Kairi, strange as this situation is.

[introductions; he used to be better at them]

It's nice to meet you, too, Zero.

[That means he's in their boat. Maybe this won't be in vain, then. When they near the harbor, Kairi slows down a little, then looks back at him, seeming a bit more excited now as she speeds up.]

[Suzaku speeds up after her. Perhaps he should be more careful, but curiosity was bugging him and... There's something comforting about her (it's horrifying, to him, how he'd run into people who reminded him so keenly of people and acquaintances he knew)]

[She runs right out onto the docks. One of them lowers right onto the water, and she makes her way to the end of that and stands at the very edge, looking out over the orange-bathed water.]

[and his heart breaks, because her carefree manner coupled with the sight just brought back so many memories (dreams now)

But he was 'Zero' and that had no bearing on what was happening]

You seem at home here, near the sea.

[Her smile becomes more fond as his words fall upon attentive ears.]

I grew up on an island. All my best memories are there.

[She kneels down at the edge of the dock, looking back at him.]

Sit with me?

[and he does as he's ask to, because saying no to someone so cheerful only ever brought him more trouble]

[Without a beat, she responds, confidence in her tone.]

Because if you were a mean person, you'd have said 'no' when I asked, and I'd really like to surround myself with good people while I'm here.

[She laughs a bit, showing slight nervousness for a moment before it fades away.]

That, and you looked kind of... lonely. It's probably none of my business, but I wanted to help anyway.
