† 140

Sep 13, 2009 23:59

My Lord--Would my prayers reach you in this dark time? In view of what is happening and what has happened, I implore all of those who have escaped or resisted the police arrest to don't delay in contacting a doctor or come to the City General. We have to take care of your injuries as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience.

I could use some help, if you've got anyone to spare.

Of course, Gabriel. Where are you?

About halfway in between the lake and the hospital, to the right of the fountain. Moving slowly but surely.

I will be on my way. Please don't move until I arrive. How badly are you injured?

I have a number of deep, infected wounds; there's a shunt installed into the back of my head that I haven't had time to remove; and I haven't eaten in three days. All in all, it's better than I expected.

No broken bones? Then I will be able to move you without trouble.

He sat on the closest bench he could find, wincing and pulling away from the back of it as soon as he touched it. He honestly had wanted to get to the hospital under his own steam, but wasn't looking forward to the two hours it would take to get there. This was preferable.

He still work his now-red prisoner's uniform, ripped and tattered and displaying the slices in his arms and legs quite well.

Usually, Lilith liked to pretend to be a Terran and use human limitations, but when a life and well-being were at stake, she didn't have time for her fancies. There weren't vehicles to her disposal, therefore she had to use her own muscles. The Krsnik version of Methuselah "haste" and she would be reaching her destination in a few moments.

She stopped when she saw Gabriel sitting on the bench, covered with injuries. She had brought her medical kit and she would carry him to the Hospital after she cleaned and dressed those wounds.

"Gabriel," she addressed him, studying the gravity of the wounds to determine which one was deeper.

Gabriel's eyebrows rose when he saw her, the desire for something special that the deities left spiking in him. He closed his eyes and pushed it down- there was no way he could take anything from Lilith even if he did have his abilities back. "You got here quick," he said uselessly, something to cover the discomfort.

When he opened his eyes, he realized that she was looking at his wounds. "There's too many, really," he said quietly. "Maybe if you could just get a couple of exposed ones." There were too many exposed ones, even, but one on his arm looked particularly infected. What he holds up to her, though, is his right foot- a deep gash is in the sole- and he shrugs. "Be easier to walk with this covered."

He was going to look like a mummy at the end of today, but a mummy that was much less in pain. This was a lot better than having to steal medical supplies on the fly.

Lilith smiled sadly at him, shaking her head. "I wasn't too far," she answered, helpfully. That hadn't been a lie, precisely. The Hospital wasn't too far away.

"You are not going to walk, Gabriel," she said, kneeling near the bench, reaching for his foot to guide it low. She opened her metal case. It was thin, but voluminous within. Another marvel of Lost Technology. "I can carry you." Her tone was gentle, but firm, she would sedate him if he tried to squirm. She put on a pair of latex gloves and took a vial of disinfectant solution from the kit. "This could be painful, but the debris must be removed," she warned before she began to scrub the wound.

He glared vaguely up at her when she mentioned carrying him, but it faded fairly quickly. He was humiliated plenty during this weekend, might as well add another if it actually helps. Sylar nodded his concession on that front.

He stretched out his leg so she could get a better angle at his bare foot. "I've handled worse," he grumbled in response to her warning, but he winced heavily when she began to scrub. He took a deep breath and waited for it to be over.

Lilith ignored his glare and proceeded to scrub, she was too used to Abel's glares and squirming after every fight he used to get involved before they returned to Earth.

"Then you'll be strong during this," she praised him with a mildly indulging tone of voice. After she finished the scrubbing, she picked up a pair of sterile tweezers to remove what was left of the dirty skin with precision. She had left ready a special solution within the syringe from her kit to proceed into irrigation. It was one of her own making that wouldn't cause skin irritation or pain when applied, more advanced than the average medicine of the Hospital that could have been found decades ago in her world. She held it perpendicularly and began to plunge to emit the stream near his foot injury.

He narrowed his eyes at first, disliking the indulgent tone of voice on principle. But it wasn't excessive, and might even be sincere. He relaxed, staring at what she was doing with mild concentration.

He expected the whole thing to hurt from start to finish, but the solution wasn't bad at all. His foot felt better and after a long silence, he said, "...thanks."

He did wish he'd regenerate already, though.

It was sincere as was her concern for all human beings as principle. "I'm not finished," she hushed him as she gathered everything back into the kit to take the bandages. She dressed the foot carefully before she stood. "I will attend the others in the Hospital, now..."

She looked at him, waiting for a new assessment. She would have to carry him and she would prefer if she had his permission.

He watched as she bandaged his foot, finally relaxing a little. When she trailed off, he looked up at her face again, curiously. It took him a few seconds before he understood what she was getting at- another reminder of his loss. His aptitude had always kept him sharp before.

After a moment of debate, he nodded. "Do what you need to do." He hadn't been looking forward to walking the full distance anyway, even with a cleaned-up foot.
