Listening to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic version of Distant Worlds now...
Whoa.
Okay frankly if it sounds so good on e speakers I simply cannot imagine listening to it live. sigh. I WILL spam as many orchestra concerts as I can when I visit Europe/America.
So I attended Distant Worlds over the weekend. Music from Final Fantasy.
Like 'Don't Be Afraid' and 'Opening - Bombing Mission' for example. I get e feeling that e Singapore Festival Orchestra was the limiting factor. They just couldn't play it at the breath-taking pace and oomph needed. No offence to the SFO, but I'm just doing a comparison. I felt they did well on the more melodic pieces like Aerith's Theme and Love Grows. Fisherman's Horizon was done pretty well too. Theme of Love needs a more dramatic orchestral arrangement i feel. Too much looping of the (good) melody without a proper story to it.
Ronfaure was pretty, uh, forgettable. One thing though - they did pretty well on Swing de Chocobo.
Sigh. I wish I knew how to play proper orchestra instruments like e oboe or violin or some cool brass instru.
