I WON AN MGS COSPLAY CONTEST AND KOJIMA /KONAMI ARE FLYING ME TO GLORIOUS NIPPON FOR TGS .
Here's my SDCC 2010 and contest summary!
Preview Night/ Wednesday
-Rode down with Ken to the T&C to pick up badges
-Got to the con and ran into Matt, Rob, Demir, Katie, Jackie, Kai, and Rattmice.
-RECEIVED FOAM MEGAMAN BLASTER FUCKYEAH
-Went to Dick's Last Resort with the /cgl/ group
-Was amused by the hat our group ordered for Adam Sesslar: 'I give this hat a 3 out of 5!'
-Stole Rob's hat: 'there are no condoms small enough'
Thursday
-Hopped into Bomber Cammy/ 1942 Cammy
-Went to the Udon booth and Yoshiro Ono wanted to take my picture! He tweeted it, and I got my hat signed. :D
-Got lunch with friends.
-I think this was the day where there was one seat left on the bus and Ken and John needed seats. Ken became John's seat lololol
-Ran into the Angry Video Game Nerd
-Did a photoshoot with Ken
-Saw flogos, amazing people-shaped bubbles
-Had dinner with friends at Wendy's again
-Went to Jackie and Kai's house and fell asleep eventually
Friday - no bullet points for this day!
So my friends FB'd me a Kotaku post that Hideo Kojima was going to be at Comic Con to do autographs and judging cosplays. To be honest, I didn't think there was going to be a real contest; I just thought cosplay was encouraged and that Kojima was going to comment on it at most.
Anyways, I got to the signing area a bit before 11AM as Sweet Raiden with Todd and Ken and saw my friends Richard and Brook. I also met Susan as Sunny and a Capslock_MGSer as Oldcelot, which was awesome. We were told that they didn't want the cosplayers to go into the signing, and we presumed it was because they were going to have us go onstage or something. Konami staff eventually told us that there was a contest at 2, so we wound up just hanging out for 3 hours. Lionel showed up in his fuckwin MGS4 Raiden costume and I hnnnnng'd.
One of the Konami staffers said the prizes were going to be posters, and we figured that the contest would be pretty low key.
After getting contact info and numbers for our costumes, all 15 of us went into the judging room where Hideo was, and they explained the prizes were some figurines and posters. Each of us gave our name, how long we've played MGS, and our best impression of the character (which was pretty entertaining!) and we were sent to wait in an adjacent room.
A few minutes later, Konami staffers announced that they were throwing in a few more prizes- cell phone straps and clear files. They didn't let on at all to the big prize!
Kojima announced that Susan's Sunny got sixth, Ken's Ocelot got fifth, Oldcelot got fourth, a Snake got third, Lionel got second, and I got first. I wasn't expecting it at all! I was so excited to get my picture with Kojima! After doing some group shots of the winners, they told Lionel and I to step out and said Kojima had a surprise for us! We were getting flown to Japan for Tokyo Game Show this year to 'battle the Japanese cosplayers'.

Anyways, according to Kojima, Konami's facebook, and Omi, we're going to be competing, but I think that's a metaphor. I think.
-After extended amounts of happy, we had lunch and eventually went to Ghirardelli with Katie, Jackie, Kai, Richard, and Eric, and I got a banana split to celebrate.
-Ken showed up with his crotch revolver, dirty old man.
-Went back to Jackie and Kai's, talked to Omi Gibson about meeting her at TGS, and went to bed.
Saturday
-Got into Delta Red Cammy with Todd as my handler
-Had lunch with my parents
-Avocado and mushroom sandwich = <3
-Saw Rob Lowe
-Met Alodia when her handler wanted photos of her with me. She seemed very nice and so cute!
-Met Vampy at the Udon booth. She was so incredible sweet and beautiful and her Juri was spot on fantastic!
-Got a photo with Jo Chen hnnnng I love her art.
-Did a shoot with an awesome DuoShot photographer- that was a lot of fun!
-Ran into Bellechere briefly.
-I changed and we got dinner in Horton plaza with Ken, Katie, Ted, Brian, and John. I tried learning to eat with chopsticks. It's so hard...
-Went to the masquerade.
-HNNNNG MASS EFFECT ANIMATRONICS
-Grabbed Jordan and Jessica and went back to sleep.
Sunday
-Was a zombie so no costume.
-Ambled around the dealer's hall and got approached by a casting company who recognized me as the Cammy from before.
-Felt like crap.
-Got an autograph from Phil LaMarr. I didn't realized he did Vamp from MGS4 AND Hermes from Futurama. Mind=blown.
-Took a nap for an hour in the car.
-We went to the Old Spaghetti Factory for one last time of dinner-fun. Jackie, Kai, Ken, John, Sax John, Niamhe, and Rob.
-SPOONS
-Left my leftover lasagna bawww
-Packed up and went home
