I really really disagree when people who don't even like President Bush say that we should respect him because he is president. I don't beleive I am taking it out of context to say that that means you should respect people because of their job and position in life. Maybe you should respect him because he too is human, and you beleive in respecting

I think that President Bush, as do all former Presidents, work far harder than you give them credit for. True, we shouldn't just respect people since they're of higher position than us... but the inverse shouldn't be true either

I thought someone would say this. Being president is definately a hard job. His job or how hard he works at it is not why I don't respect him. His decisions or more his views, to me, are not respectful of other people, so I in turn lose respect for him. I don't beleive that he works as hard as a lot of people, or as hard as he could. I'm not saying there haven't been worse presidents, or that he is a terrible person at all. I don't even mean Bush specifially. The Inverse of what I have said isn't true either, for me at least. I don't not respect him because he is of a higher position than I.

Right, those are the reasons to not respect someone... for what they're doing. I totally agree with you. I am obviously a little less critical of Bush, seeing as how I view the alternative as spineless, opinionless, and is basically just trying to be the antithesis of Bush... but I do disagree with a lot he's doing in office and wish we could get someone better (on any side). Our options suck.

bashing bush isnt a fad. he always has been and always will be a shithole president. and i dont hate him for what he dosnt do.. i hate him for what he does do.. like kill millions of innocent people everyday, and for what? if hes doing what he thinks is best than i think were all fucked. he is a bafoon.

If you think that bashing Bush isn't a fad then you're obviously not very observant, and there's no way in hell he's killing millions of innocent people everyday. In fact, there are very few innocent people being killed at all in comparison to the amount of hostiles being killed. I'm not saying I nesessarily agree with what we're doing... but we aren't slaying the helpless. They're killing back.

Somewhere between 15,654 and 17,884 civilians have died during the war in Iraq due to US military force. Hundreds of thousands more have starved to death, died from bad drinking water, been the victims of disease, and many have been caught in the crossfire between US and Iraqi defenders as well. The deaths of civilians by military force is bad, no doubt, but what has hurt the Iraqi's the most is the destruction of their infostructure. Because of limited intelligence, no exit plan, few allies, and no strong government ready to take the place of Sadam's obviously awful regime many Iraqi's cannot get food, clean drinking water, medical care, or clean bathrooms. Further to say "they're killing back" as if it is a bad thing shows just how little perspective you have on their situation. Most of the Iraqi rebels (I call them rebels or defenders and not insurgents because they are not fighting against an established government but merely a US appointed puppet government) are fighting to defend their home against a country they see as

I'm not talking about the Iraqi "rebels" who are fighting. There aren't really that many "rebels", anyways. The majority of the opposition are Saudi Arabians who loathe us, from what I can tell, and I have no problem mudering them if they choose to interfere with the Iraqi elections.

It's not like all Iraqis hate us either... most don't want us to be there, but understand the need for our occupation at this point in time. I can understand their anger for being occupied by a foreign force... I'd be pissed if China "occupied" America and would probably try to do something about it. I'm just hoping we can actually get a decent government set in there and have them be strong enough so we can leave without them collapsing into a civil war. I don't care what kind of government, just anything better than the one Saddam used to exploit his people.

you forget that saddam has been pretty much powerless for a while now. he was always under a scrutinizing eye after the first gulf war and posed pretty much no real threat to anyone. i'm sure the US have killed far more iraqis than antyhing saddam has had to do with since way the hell back when.

and yes, i agree with you that hating on bush is a suedo-fad, but only because there are a million genuine reasons to hate on him. so even some stupid people half get it enough to not like him (although most of the undereducated in thr US vote republican). if you want a president who was hated for all the wrong reasons how about fucking bill clinton!

Truth and to evan's point that most of the people fighting in Iraq are Saudis thats not necessarily true. Although many of the fighter are from other countries in the middle east, Al Sadr and Zawahari are both based in Iraq and in Al Sadr's case was born there. Furthermore many Muslims see the fight not as a nationalist one but a religious one and they feel they are defending a muslim country against America, which they see as amoral or worse. I'm not advocating terrorism but I totally would want to fight the Americans if I was an Iraqi.
