This morning, at 8:05, I left the house in my (very humble) pajamas with Ellery. I grabbed the key for my dad's car and sludged outside in the freezing cold in my big heels (b/c they were the first shoes I saw as I stumbled out the door.) I was only supposed to take Ellery 50 feet past the driveway, but since it was so freezing and no one really knows when the bus is coming, she waits in the warm car. So, great. 99.9% of the time, 8:05 is plenty of time to catch the bus. But, for some reason, the bus driver today decided to come ridiculously early, so I had no choice but to drive Ellery to Eldredge, since my mom had already left to get to work.
As I'm driving home from Eldredge, pulling into Ann Drive, I realize, wow, I'm stupid... I didn't bring my purse, which has my driver's license in it, my cell phone, wallet, and keys to everything else besides the car in which I was driving. No big deal, though, I can still get back into the empty house through the garage door opener which is...in...the...car....
Oh, but no. Mom had taken that out and put it back in the Nissan earlier this morning, apparantly.
But, no worries. I can still get into the house through the keypad garage door opener right outside the garage...
Oh, but no. When it gets too cold in the winter, the thing freezes and doesn't work. Which means, no getting into the garage. Which means no getting into the house. At all.
It is, at this point, 8:50. Mom wasn't coming home until 1.
Four hours later, I had accomplished the following:
~ taken a few short, unhelpful naps in the back seat of the car
~ walked around the house 3 times looking for a way in
~ tried to jimmy the lock of the back door
~ searched for a spare key
~ peed in the woods in my "front yard" (yes, I am officially a true nature girl)
~ read the "Purpose Driven Life" pamphlets in the backseat that my dad had left there
~ listened to some music in the car
~ froze EVERY body part off, since it never got above 26 degrees the entire time, and I never wanted to leave the car heat on for more than a few minutes- I hate being a waster.
~ NOT been in the house since 8 THAT MORNING!
Hottness. So that's how my morning/afternoon started.
But then I went to Panera with my mommy for lunch, found 2 movie passes on the floor, and went clothes shopping for London. So all in all it's all good. :)
