I know it's only February but planning a good trip takes time! Especially here, when certain times of the year bring a higher influx of tourists, and that definitely affects how we vacation.
Our five year anniversary is coming up in May, and I want to do something special!
I've asked my mom a few times and we will get Gail in on it, too, but I'm super hopeful that we will have babysitters for the girls
for three days and nights... which I don't think has ever happened. Having 3 days alone together would be so, so, so very wonderful.
It's hard to inject two other people into your relationship who are just hanging around ALL the time and not have your relationship suffer just a little... all parents have to handle this issue and I think it can cause a lot of stress sometimes!
So I am uber excited at the prospect of having an adult only vacation!
We've been to St Augustine a million times and stayed at the condo in Crescent Beach, which is amazing and fun and everything, but I was trying this time for us to stay smack in the middle of the historic district downtown, which we have never done.
Crescent Beach is about 25 minutes away, and we only spend a few hours downtown when we go with the kids, spending more of our time at the beach and in less tourist-y areas.
I LOVE the architecture and the whole old world feeling there... it is the oldest city in the nation, after all! There are so many tiny shops and bed and breakfasts all crunched in on these tree lined stone paved roads and so many cool pubs and things to do! And everything in walking distance so we can just meander down and find new things! and so many things we can't do with the girls around like the midnight ghost tours and the Bubble Room and oh also having SEX lol and we are way familiar with the area so it will be easy. But also so many places to explore!
I don't want to overplan. But I'm super excited thinking about this.
And I'm not going to get too excited in case things don't work out.
the hotel is on the bay here
Castillo de san Marcus is right across the street from the hotel
we love this restaurant, super rustic right in the middle of the marsh and the food is yummmmmy
(another super fun restaurant, too expensive for 4 of us to go to often)
oh so so hope John can get that weekend off work and we can use HHonor points for the hotel on the days we want!
but if we don't go it will be ok, too. (that's me reining it in so I don't get all disappointed)
