Pennsylvania was... cold.
Too damn cold for my liking.
I seriously underpacked. I had to buy socks and sweaters and long sleeve shirts when I got there.
For Lily, I overpacked. She didn't even wear half of the things I brought.
She really hated having to be so bundled up.
I had to put her in a onesie, then a shirt, then a sweater, and then a jacket. Plus a beanie and mittens and socks and shoes, and sometime tights under her pants to keep her legs warmer.
Poor thing could barely move! But she sure looked cute!
My family is spread out over York and Wrightsville and Columbia and Lancaster and Millersville and Marietta so we spent a good part of the time driving around and visiting everyone.
We stayed with my great Uncle Benny and Aunt Karen and their daughter Brenda, who just turned 21.
They live on this beautiful hill and they have 2 acres of land and a river in their backyard...they live on the edge of some state park, so it was pretty freakin' beautiful. I miss trees that change colors like that.
But I don't miss the cold.
The first night after we got there we were like, 'we froze our butts off last night!" and my Uncle Benny said, "oh, we had the windows open"
WHAT? they laughed because I was always always freezing but seriously anything colder than 65 degrees and I'm done for. And it was much colder than that.
We went to the Halloween Parade and it was awesome, although it was 30 degrees outside. Lily loved it but fell asleep at the halfway point, even sleeping through all the fire engines and everything!
I thought it was funny how everyone booed the Republican float. I got a McCain sticker, so I can change it to something funny.
Lily learned to roll over while we were there. She first rolled from her stomach to her back. She can roll to either the left or the right. She's rolled from her back to her stomach once or twice, but that's something she's working on. She's ALMOST sitting up from her back to her butt.
And when she's in a sitting position, she can sit by herself, with no support.
so she's growing and learning so quickly!
I'll have some uber cute pix of her up as soon as I get all unpacked and situated.
The worst part of the trip besides the damn cold and the flight back (we got stuck in Charlotte for 3 1/2 hours - boarded 200 people on the plane, and then had to disembark again and wait for a plane that wasn't broken!) was saying goodbye to my grandfather. It was very hard to say good bye to him because chances are I will never see him alive again. so that was tough.
But we had big family wars with my Uncle Danny and his wife Lisa, some major misappropriation of my grandpa's funds going on there. The cops were called, twice, and a minister was brought in to mediate a family meeting.
It was a big dramatic mess.
ugh.
made by me!
