Gaaaah, catching up on Dr. Who (I have read no spoilers. I am fancy and spoiler free! Please allow me this one joy...*sigh*)
Now then, Holy HELLFIRE! Just finished watching The Forest of the Dead...STEVEN MOFFAT HOW ARE YOU MADE OF SO MUCH AWESOME!? No. So seriously. Tell me the secret to your awesome. I wish I could awesome like you.
I was trying to write my Dr. Who script...but man...the more I watch this show, the more I wonder how the hell I'm supposed to write anything that measures up to what these people are writing. Especially, especially when it's a Steven Moffat episode. I mean...shit dudes, now that's a story.
It's like he single handedly takes every one of my favorite story elements and combines them in a big magic blender of squeee for my viewing consumption! There's that whole basic fear element (and it's always these innocently terrifying things:...creepy-ass children, masks, statues, shadows...*shudders*), then there's the doomed emotional element, then just when you're emotionally stretched to the breaking point...SAVED!! Only the thing is, you're so fucked up by the time you get that happy ending, you forget there's any possibility of getting there at all...which means it takes you by surprise!
Ohohoh Moffat. I hope I meet you someday.
