Warning: Spoilers for both episodes!
I almost forgot the new series started again today - how bad, but when I did remember I was instantly excited. Except that I think the first episode was very slow. Alot of it was all a bit of a big reminder too - both to last series and Doctor Who. Speaking of Doctor Who, I think using the Sontaran's so soon after last series of Doctor Who was pushing it a bit - I don't know why.
I like Clyde more and more - I also think that he could really come into his elemt this series. Taking a bigger part, being accepted more by Sarah Jane - I found she used to put him down and dismiss him a bit last series. I think him being the focus of the cinema trailer was an indication that they were taking him into a more prominant decision - taking over Maria's position maybe?
Now is it me, have I been in fandom way too long or was Maria telling Sarah Jane about moving all a bit like a break up? I mean...come on! I'm obviously losing it! But flicking through her phone and looking at those pictures just backed it up. I also felt so sorry for Luke when she told him - he seemed so heartbroken! I always just want to hug him so much.
Chrissie...human most of the time - and she saved the day! At first is all seemed a bit like Donna all over again (and I won't get upset thinking about Donna and her memory wipe), but Chrissie telling Sarah Jane that she remembered it all was pretty much...priceless!
I'll admit...I was a bit teary eyed when Maria and Sarah Jane were saying goodbye...I'm proud enough to admit that.
I'll miss Maria (though I have to respect Yasmin Page's decision to leave for her GCSE's), I really liked her and next week is going to be hard in terms of reations as I know I'll be tempted to compare Rani to her, but...I think I'm taking the positive opinion that she'll be back one day.
Overall...an alright episode, that picked up in the second episode (thank you CBBC channel) with more action. So...wonder how next week will pan out.
