A wonderful variation on a vampiric relationship. The idea of Sherlock tasting John's moods is beautiful and intimate and makes chemical sense. There should be more of this!

Thanks! I actually have most of a continuation of this scene written, which *coughcough* follows the scene to its logical conclusion. It's the first time I've written anything that explicit, so it's taking more time than I'd hoped.

Oh god, thank you! Thank you!

Dangerous, possessive, codependent Sherlock and John are my very favorite kink and you hit ALL THE NAILS. There was fantastic imagery and characterization, especially Sherlock tasting John's moods and being uncertain if what he was doing was okay, and John being (as he is always being, as he will always be) totally okay with it, because it's all fine as long as it's Sherlock. I also liked how you were able to incorporate the vampirism without any long explanations or exposition. You let the intelligence of the reader fill in the blanks.

I love this! What a great gift!

Thank you! I'm so very glad to hear this was the sort of thing you were hoping for. It's a bit of a departure from my usual style, and was thus fun and challenging to get done. ^_^ I'm pleased it worked for you.

I've got *most* of a smutty coda/continuation written (I couldn't get it done in time for the initial posting). I'm delaying posting it to AO3 under my own name for another couple of days in hopes of finishing that part too, so it can go up with it. Hoping you'll enjoy that too.

Thank you again for the lovely feedback (and the prompts), and happy holidays!

I am completely looking forward to the smutty coda, as that story ended on one hot moment! This was great. Thank you for putting so much thought into this. I really did love it!

I shall never ceased to be amazed at the things Sherlock says that I find incredibly romantic. 'You taste like a murder' is absolutely one of those things. Luckily, John obviously agrees with me. His urgency and constant need to reaffirm for himself that Sherlock is back is heartbreakingly true to his character.

It is odd, isn't it, what Sherlock can get away with saying. It's all context-- if we *get* why he's saying it and it's true to the character, it'll work.

This is a bit different from my usual stuff, I'm glad you thought it worked.

*fans self* That is perhaps the hottest vampire thing I have ever read, bar none. I really love how little Sherlock's life has changed since becoming a vampire, and my heart aches a bit for John, who think the only way to keep his best friend is to allow him to feed. But when they both understood that they key to mutual satisfaction is to make John happy (or hopped up on adrenalin), well, as I said before: *fans self* I think my favorite line of all may have to be:

...John still high on adrenaline and Sherlock on being amazing.

It's sometimes easy to get so sucked into a story (no pun intended) that you don't notice how well it's put together. Now that my pulse rate is nearly back to normal, I'm realizing this. Magnificent work, Anon! Brava!!

High praise indeed, thank you!

And yeah, their relationship in the story is... complicated. Very very complicated. Hoo boy is it complicated. XP

Thank you again for such a lovely comment!
