Zack Greinke's Cy Young Award is not, of course, underreported. But some folks may have missed an
interesting detail toward the end of this article, which is that he missed an entire season being treated for social anxiety disorder.
He seems like a huge geek in a number of other ways, in fact, so this is not entirely surprising, but I feel like it's something of a landmark moment to have a professional athlete, winning one of the top prizes in his line of work, acknowledge having had this kind of problem, and effectively say "yeah, people asking me for autographs weirds me out, honestly." Progress for de-stigmatization? Perhaps, anyway?
