I guess this is more a question of etiquette (sort of?), but...

I saw in the main info post that you'll have the writers post a tentative summary of their stories around the end of Feb, and then when March rolls around, have the artists take a look and comment-claim which fic they'd like to illustrate.

I was wondering, though, when submitting our summaries, should we include a note or something if we've already got an artist lined up? (I'd hate to have someone get all jazzed about the idea of illustrating my fic concept, and then have to be a bitch and be all, "Uh, thanks, but my sister's already doing it...")

Having thought about this, I'm thinking of having two sign-up posts for artists: one for those who are already attached to a writer, and one for those who aren't. That seems like the fairest way to do it. We'll have a space on your summary submission format to indicate if you do or do not have an artist. :)

Okay, thanks for the clarification, and the quick response!

Oh, another question that just struck me: I know authors are limited to one fic each, but what if an artist would like to illustrate for more than one fic? (After seeing the size of the tentative-signups post, I'd imagine there surely must be a lot more writers out there than artists--then again, maybe not everyone expects to have an artist for their BB.)

I guess the actual number of artists (and stories) remains to be seen, but will there maybe be some sort of system, like once all the artists have a first story, they'll be allowed to pick seconds-ies as long as they're confident they can manage it?

I'm not sure yet; I think it'll depend on the number of authors we get vs. the number of artists we get. What might happen is that we hold off on artist assignments until rough drafts come in so that we know who'll actually complete the challenge (which will probably be fewer than half of the people who sign up, if previous big bangs are anything to go by) and need an artist. If we still don't have enough artists, we may do something like what you suggest.

(Really, we're just trying things and seeing what works at this point.)

(Oh, that's totally fine, totally understandable. I was just wondering, because though I've strong-armed my sister with the YOU ARE ART-ING MY FIC AND THAT'S THAT, I wouldn't put it past her to fall in love with some other fic idea and want to illustrate that one, too. :D)

Thanks again!
