12. Happy Endings
Neal was right, Mozzie was able to understand Marabelle's note.
"It'll take at least a month to get the Suit back to his proper age, two if we want to be completely assured of his safety," the con-man informed Neal, Diana, Elizabeth, Peter, and Jones. Satchmo was also present, but the dog wasn't listening to Mozzie, as the lab was much more interested in the cookie crumbs Neal and Peter were dropping haphazardly on the floor.
"But it only took an hour for the stuff to de-age him originally," Jones observed.
"Correct, Junior Suit," Mozzie acknowledged, "but if we rush the re-aging process, he would likely suffer from a fatal loss of energy as he regained the mass he lost in the de-aging process."
"Thermodynamics?" Elizabeth questioned, sounding somewhat surprised.(1)
Mozzie nodded.
"The conversation of matter and of energy is apparently key to the de-aging and re-aging processes, at least with regards to Doctor Eastin's method," he added, "in fact, her work could be an excellent basis for transporter technology."
"Really?" Neal asked, seemingly interested (though he could have been faking it, it was hard to say for sure).
Mozzie nodded, but before he could elucidate, Diana spoke first.
"That's interesting, but let's stick to the matter at hand for now," she said, "what do you need for the re-aging process?"
"Fortunately, Mrs. Suit has everything I need right here in her kitchen," Mozzie replied.
"You do?" Neal asked, turning to Elizabeth in surprise as he spoke. Elizabeth just shrugged wordlessly in reply.
"Then get started," Diana ordered Mozzie.

Five Weeks Later
Neal walked out onto his balcony to find Peter waiting for him, sipping at a cup of June's Italian roast. He smiled at the FBI agent, now back to his proper age. Peter scowled over his cup of coffee at the CI.
"Why are you so happy?" he demanded crossly.
"I'm so happy because you're back," Neal replied.
"And not because we got a new case that's right up your alley?" Peter retorted.
"We do?" Neal asked, feigning ignorance, "what is it?"
"A small art gallery was broken into yesterday morning," Peter replied, "all of their art was taken."
"Are you going to sit there drinking your coffee or are we going to go catch this thief?" Neal asked.
"I can take your badge back," Peter warned, finishing his coffee in one last gulp.
"I'd tell Elizabeth AND Diana on you if you did."
"You wouldn't."
"You know I would, Peter."

1. So Elizabeth paid attention in her high school chemistry class (and yes, they do teach the laws of thermodynamics in high school chemistry--I should know, I took that particular class twice because I fail at turning in my homework).
