I'm going to be heading to bed at about 9:30pm EDT (in about an hour and a half from now). I'm already yawning now as it is, but the winds are really starting to gust now, and I don't want to go to sleep just yet--I want to wait until after high tide at least before I head off to bed since my pajamas are not meant for leaving the house in a hurry...they are kinda good for getting into someone's pants though, I suppose. Certainly flimsy enough--the buttons on the top are not that good at staying buttoned.
*realizes she's rambling yet again and shuts up*
If the power is still on when I get up tomorrow morning, I will resume posting updates throughout the day until Irene has officially left the region (currently expected to be sometime early tomorrow afternoon, by the way). If the power is off, I will try to convince my mom to let me borrow her blackberry and I'll post a brief post stating that I'm still alive but the power is off.
Roanoke Sound (in North Carolina, near Hatteras Island and Nags Head) is flooding!!!!! The local reporter sounds really distressed about it...I hope he doesn't break his pinkie finger listing all of the storm systems that have caused flooding in the area.
P.S. Listening to the local news reporters list off what all has happened today at the top of the hour is kinda hilarious.
EDIT: There is an unconfirmed report of another fatality in Virginia, according to Governor Bob McDonald, due to a falling tree.
