Chapter Five: Getting Help
"Doctor McCoy, what an unexpected surprise to hear from you," Ambassador Selek said in greeting.
"Believe me, when I woke up this morning, the last thing I was expecting to do was call you," McCoy admitted.
"Why have you called me, Doctor?" the old Vulcan asked, getting straight to the point.
McCoy liked Selek, he wasn't as unemotional as all the other Vulcans the doctor had ever met.
"Commander Spock and Captain Kirk have both informed me that they are attracted to each other," McCoy began. "And before you ask, no, they don't know of the other's feelings."
"You wish for my assistance in getting them together?" the ambassador guessed.
"Exactly," McCoy replied.
"I think I can arrange something here on New Vulcan for when the Enterprise visits next month, Doctor," Selek mused aloud, remembering how his own McCoy had managed to enlist the help of his Sarek and Amanda to bring him and his Jim (in his timeline, the second child of George and Winona Kirk was a boy) together.
"Thank you, Ambassador," McCoy replied.
