1. A body of water, smaller than a river, contained within relatively narrow banks: Brook, Creek, or Stream.
2. What the thing you push around the grocery store is called: Shopping Cart, or just Cart for short.
3. A metal container to carry a meal in: Lunch box (which is in turn shortened to Box) or Lunch pail, sometimes just referred to as a Bucket; though usually not made of metal, in my experience.
4. The thing that you cook bacon and eggs in: Skillet, Frying Pan.
5. The piece of furniture that seats three people: There' such a thing as a piece of furniture that seats three people?? Sofa, Couch, Bench (if in a public setting).
6. The device on the outside of the house that carries rain off the roof: Drainpipe(s).
7. The covered area outside a house where people sit in the evening: If connected to the house--Porch (front/back, depending on location in orientation to the house its attached to); If not connected to the house--Gazebo. I've heard the term 'Sun room' used, but in my experience, people sit in their sunrooms during the day, not in the evenings.
8. Carbonated, sweetened, non-alcoholic beverages: Soda, Soda Pop, Pop, Soft drink(s), Cola, Coke...the list goes on and on for nearly forever.
