He made sure they were as loud as possible. Him and Irene Adler, on the settee, seemingly in the throes of passion when Watson was due to return.
Irene was practically squealing when Watson entered. He examined the situation with a grimace, before merely grabbing the paper and walking away. No sorrow, no jealousy, nothing.
"I believe this experiment has failed," Holmes said, frowning at the closed door.
Irene sat up and rolled her eyes. "I told you this wouldn't work, genius. Can't you just tell him?"
Holmes considered. Then shook his head. "Let's try something else."
Irene groaned.
