Ouch. That would be a terrible thing for Watson to have to deal with. On the one hand he'd probably be telling himself that Holmes was dead, he had to stop holding onto ghosts, it was ripping him apart--and on the other there's that nagging doubt, because it sounds so much like him and how could he be alive and not tell Watson?

This is lovely and hurting and generally wonderful.

Oooh, a lovely scenario to contemplate, even though I agree it would be hard on Watson.
