He never gave proper interviews and turned up in the remotest places, always making a name for himself. He was the toast of foreign kings, the subject of immense speculation. Women swooned at his name, men wanted to be him. He was a perfect mystery.
No one knew who he was.
But John Watson had his suspicions.
