It's just before 1am and I was trying finally to go to sleep when all of a sudden I felt that familiar, yet always startling feeling, that a big ass truck rumbled past my building and shook the hell out of it. Only the building kept shaking and there's no truck. Then I felt the also familiar swaying/rocking motion indicating that my building was rocking back and forth. It almost feels like being on a boat that's swaying.
So yeah, we had an
earthquake. An estimated 4.5 about 25 miles northwest of where I live. I really didn't handle this one all that well. I laid (layed?) in my bed with a panicky feeling until the swaying stopped. I remember thinking that I wish I wasn't alone. We have earthquakes all the time, but this one wasn't one of those small "haha, this is cool" kind of quakes. This one was the kind where you think, "Is this THE ONE? Is this THE ONE and I'm ALONE?!" I just laid in my bed waiting to see if it would get bigger, waiting for the swaying to stop and then I finally snapped out of it and went to go check on my cats. They seemed fine.
Who knows when I'll get to sleep now.
