My first year at Vividcon was 2009 and I had THE GREATEST TIME OF MY LIFE.
elynross and the concom were all brilliant and it broke my heart to see all the wank thrown at them afterwards (once everyone was home and in their safe space again).
For the current wank I'd like to point everyone to

Ok trigger warnings are something that you'd put before your fic or vid to warn people if there are things in said fic or vid that might be "triggery" like rape, abuse, suicide, etc. etc. It's triggery because if you stumble upon it unawares then people who have experiences with those things might have an unwanted traumatic response.
Obviously it would be bad for people to have such a response but imo people can get really excessive with the warnings they put and that's where the problem comes in of it stifling your art.
I'm fairly certain all the work you do does not require trigger warnings of any kind. ;)

Are you going this year? If yes, I hope you still have a great time! I've never been to it myself but from what I read and heard it must be amazing!

I'm going this year, yup, and despite the wankstroms I highly recommend Vividcon to anyone. It's really the greatest party ever. :D

LOL! Trigger warnings are a trigger!
Don't worry, you can rant away. You have valid points as do all sides of this argument. I guess for me the problem with excessive trigger warnings, as I said in the comment above, is the fact that it might give people a certain impression about the contents of your vid that might not actually be there. So they'll choose not to see it when really there might not be anything that bad in the vid and the vidder is just being pressured into adding a gazillion trigger warnings just because everyone's doing it. So who wins in that situation? No one. And the art does not get seen.
