Picspam (sort of) : Top 25 Favourite Het Ships
Ok, so anyone who stumbles onto this journal would have seen the big totally hot heterosexual banner up top... So as you'd probably guess, i am a hard core femmeslasher/slasher and het for the most part, don't really interest me... however there are always exceptions. Maybe even a lot of exceptions, but for the sake of not listing down every single ship that strikes my fancy, I've narrowed it down to 25.
So here's the list, of 25 of my favourite totally NOT GAY *gasp* *shock* *horror* ships.
25. Merlin/Morgana
I don't know what it is about these two, but the more they become mortal enemies, the more I want to see them make-out. Especially in the second episode of season 3 when they had their showdown during the battle in Camelot... Not that i didn't like them before they were enemies, I really enjoyed their scenes in season 2 with Merlin trying to help her deal with her magic powers... even if it bit him hard on the arse later on... And that scene in season 2 when Merlin poisoned Morgana even though he desperately didn't want to... *sighs* I haven’t gotten round to seeing all the new episodes of this season yet, but I definitely look forward to more of this pair.
24. Sharpay/Zeke
Soooo cute! I've loved this ship since the first movie when Sharpay glomped Zeke after tasting his cookies. Though there are actually a few het ships for this fandom that I like, this one definitely stands out. Too bad they totally ignored the ship in the second movie in favour of having Sharpay pant over Troy *eye rolls*. But they made up for it in the third movie... sort of... Too bad the scene when Sharpay (more or less) ordered Zeke to take her to prom was deleted.
23. Nanami/Touga
Sick, twisted, dark and incestuous. This brother/sister pairing is definitely a fascinating one. I like how at the start it was Nanami who was all over her brother, being overly possessive and hating anyone who comes near him, being her usual snotty bitchy self... and then she found out she might have been adopted, and her brother wasn't really her brother...That part really made me more sympathetic towards her character, though i didn't like her initially, suddenly finding out she was more or less just as worthless (in her mind) as the people she kept her dear brother away from... And then after that when he comes onto her, saying that they're not really brother and sister... I love that twisted side of the charming Touga Kiryuu... Also when he revealed at the end of the episode that they were both adopted by their parents together, meaning they ARE related, and he came onto her anyway AND let her continue to believe they're not really related.
22. Peter/Claire
Another incest pair, though not a canon incest one. And between uncle and niece this time. I've been liking them since their first scenes together before it was discovered that they were related. I totally felt like Claire was giving Peter bedroom eyes in that police station/jail. I know that Milo and Hayden dated, and i heard that they broke up by now but since i didn't see the later seasons, i don't know if that's effected how they are in their scenes together or not, but i will always love them together in season 1.
21. Ben/Gwen
So Gwen and Ben might just be two of the most annoying 10 yr olds ever, and honestly, I really can't stand Gwen most of the time when watching Ben 10 original series... and yet somehow, I still find them cute together, even if they are really annoying. The scene in the pic i used is my favourite scene of them, when Gwen teaches Ben how to dance. They make such an adorable toyship together <3
And wow, that makes 3 incest pairs in a row. (For those who don't know, Ben and Gwen are cousins... for me that's less taboo than the other ones).
20. Dan/Serena (Season 1)
This ship used to be my REASON for watching Gossip Girl, before any other het, slash or femmeslash pairing or any other character. They were so good for each other then, Serena teaching Dan to be slightly more open minded, pulling him into her world, and him being there for her, her first real boyfriend. There were masquerade balls, and shooting pools and making love under fake snow. Some might say they were too sweet and might cause diabetes, but back then, i really did love them, especially at the start of season 1... And then season 2 happened. And from the stable and cute couple, they became an annoying yo-yo. This is defintiely one ship where i enjoyed them TOGETHER more than apart... I don't mind them apart, but when they're apart and still wanting each other, god that was annoying... Anyway, the later seasons is why this pairing isn't higher up on the list.
19. Dan/Georgina
Dan/Georgina, or as I like to call them, the pitbull/puppy ship. Somehow Dan always seem to have a soft spot for the so-called spawn of satan, always so willing to forgive her and let her back into his life despite being screwed over numerous times. Somehow he's even more forgiving of her than any other love interests he's had... Still, i like their scenes together a lot, the fact that their so different makes them more interesting i think. I especially love them at the beginning of season 3 when they joined forces to find out about Vanessa's new beau. Or when Dan stood up for Georgina against Blair.
18. Max/Logan (Season 1)
Yet another awesome ship, ruined by the show's season 2. I really love them together in season 1, it's very rare that I find a story where the girl is a superhero and the guy is in a wheelchair... and despite that Logan was still bada$$, still trying to save the day and stick it to 'the man'. But that's not the only reason i love this ship, i also love the way they seem to save each other from themselves. I think Logan was a big part in getting her to act less like a soldier and more like a person... What sucked about this pairing was they didn't admit their feelings for each other until the end of season 1... and THEN season 2 had that stupid virus that stopped them from touching, which i think is a really stupid plot device... and they got rid of the wheelchair.
17. Uni/Gamma
Ok, so this ship is really on the Lolicon side of things... but if you consider the fact that Uni isn't really a child, but that she had her mother and her mother before her was in some way the same person, then she isn't really a child (though thinking about the issue in detail gives me a bit of a headache). Anyway, i find this ship very romantic and tragic. The way Uni was taken from Gamma when she was brainwashed (or whatever it was he did to her) by Byakuran, just after she told him she loved him... and then him biding his time, waiting for revenge... then at the end when they were finally together, and him dying with her so she wouldn't have to sacrifice herself alone... I totally cried.
It's interesting how this fandom seem to have such awesome het ships when the fandom itself is so chock full of hot men and homoerotic subtext... I wish this ship had more screen time *sighs*
16. Chuck/Blair (Season 1)
And after Dan/Serena, Gossip Girl introduced another really awesome canon ship. Chuck and Blair, nothing could quite compare to the two fo them together in that first season. I was so in love with them, the witty bantering, the hilarious way Blair denied her feelings for him, the way Chuck, the most perverted character on the show, started showing his romantic side, despite himself... In a way, I still very much love this ship, even after the first season, however my love for it still fizzled slightly. Though this pairing will always be sexy, they were much more fun in the first season. Less angsty and back and fourth.
15. Ryuuji/Taiga
Ok, so this ship is from the newest fandom I got involved in. I haven't seen all the episodes of the show yet, but still, I love these two together. I always have a soft spot for opposites in a ship, and these two are definitely it. I love Ryuuji, and i actually find his Yakuza face rather cute, even if everyone else in his school thinks he looks scary. I also love his obsession with cleanliness, his face when he cleans is so funny. Though so far the guy can seem a little too nice sometimes, but somehow on him i don't mind as much. And Taiga! Definitely not someone anyone should mess with. I love the idea that the cutest, tiniest person in the story is the strongest and most violent one. Together, they are absolutely perfectly adorable!
14. Clark/Alicia
I used to be so obsessed with this ship. Alicia might be bat$hit crazy, but she was still absolutely adorable. While i do have a bit of a soft spot for the more stalkerish ships in fandom, I did really like them together beyond that, particularly when Alicia came back in season 4. With her, Clark wasn't pining over Lana anymore, he had someone he could connect with. And I love that Alicia, for all her insanity, still wanted to protect Clark in her own way... Also, Alicia is the only girl Clark is NICE to when high on Red Kryptonite. With all the other girls he was an a$$hole who jumped from one girl to the next... yet with Alicia, he proposed... So sweet... I cried watching Pariah... never could stand to watch that episode twice... i even cried just seeing the clips in fanvids.
13. Jeremy/Anna
Another totally awesome ship, cut painfully short... Anyway, when i first saw this ship, i was still bummed out over Jeremy/Vicky (poor guy, so many dead girlfriends in such a short time) but i was quickly converted, especially once Jeremy found out the truth about Anna and still accepted her even when she started out using him... I was screaming at the screen when they killed her off.
12. Lal/Colonello
Another fantastic het ship in the Slashtastic KHR fandom... Seems like all the memorable het ships in his fandom are all tragic in some way. Anyway, this ship manages to be both cute and fun with the couple's (occasionally violent) bantering, and tragic with the TYL arc when Colonello died... and even before then when he took the curse for Lal, which was definitely romantic... And their arcobaleno forms are so kawaii too! Anyway, i love this ship so much, i feel like they should have their own series. They NEVER get enough screen time in canon. I want to see them on missions together, before their curse.
11. Dexter/Rita
This ship made me wish the end of season 4 didn't happen. I cried so hard when Rita died... I love this ship since the start of the show, the way they built it up so that Dexter, despite being what he is, still manages to fall in love with her in the end. It's like she made the little wooden boy real, made Dexter more human.
10. Chuck/Sarah
A few years ago, this ship wouldn't have made the list. While they have always been cute together, the constant Will-They-Won't-They was really putting me off and for the first 2 and a half seasons of the show, I very much prefer slash pairings to this one... But once they got together as a real couple that changed. I started to enjoy the ship by itself more and more, and while I still love the slash pairings, this ship is currently getting more of my attention. This is one of the few ships I love where the latter seasons are more enjoyable I think.
9. Xander/Cordelia
Ah Xander/Cordelia... this ship takes me back to the old days of Buffy. While I really enjoy Anya/Xander, and Cordy/Doyle and various other pairings for those two, I don't think any one of them could ever really replace how much I love the classic Xander/Cordy with their constant, hilarious witty bantering and slap-kiss relationship.
8. Spike/Buffy
Another BtVS ship. Though this one's a lot more barbrawl-beat the crap out of each other-sex, than slap-kiss... Which is probably why I love it so much. I liked this ship since before they got together back when they were still enemies, and somehow I actually found Buffy's disgust of Spike, hilarious, even if she was the more abusive partner in this vamp/human ship... well, until the end of season 6 anyway. The last season with them was really great too, I especially love the scene where they just lay together in bed.
7. Hermione/Ron
Probably the only het ship in the HP fandom I actually cheer for. And the only canon ship in the HP series that I feel JKR hadn't ruin with her abysmal romance writing skills. Somehow they still managed to be cute, even in the later books when JKR started getting more romance into it... Though I gotta be honest, the reason I ship this so hard is more cause of the movies than the books. Emma Watson and Rupert Grint did a really great job with these two I think. I didn't even like Ron before the movies.
6. Akira/Takumi
Ok, so this one at least visually is very very close to being a slash ship... but still, even if the girl is crossdressing it still counts as het :) Anyway I love these two together, when they were roomates and Takumi was the sweet one that cooks while Akira was the more butch-tsundere. And though at the end of the series, all the characters that died were revived, it was still sad when Akira lost the fight and Takumi disapeared, him being her most important person... and even in the Mai-Otome sequel when Takumi was a prince and Akira, his protector, even though they were only shown briefly I was still cheering when they kissed.
5. Rock/Revy
These two are so bada$$, I'm surprised my computer screen didn't explode when I watch them. I love the action girl/non-action guy ships, though despite being a non-action guy, Rock is still very bada$$ in his own way. I love the way these two balance each other out, Rock’s politeness against Revy’s crudeness, his pacifist attitude against her extremely violent one, the way he used words to get what he wants while she used force. And yet despite being non-violent, Rock can hold his own against Revy so well, not even flinching when she put a gun to his head. It’s very sexy.
4. Justin/Alex
And we have another brother/sister incest pair here, though I would adore these two no matter what they are to each other. They are so perfect together, the way they snark and hide that they care so much for each other, the way Justin always bails his troublesome little sister out of trouble… I heard that in the initial script these two weren’t supposed to be related at all, but more best friends with a side of possible love interest… Clearly when the creators decided to change them to siblings, they kept the original dynamic of the ship… It makes the incest vibe so so obvious.
3. Dan/Blair
Though I made it third on the list this ship is more or less tied with the second one. While Chuck and Blair are so deliciously snarky and sexy; this one is so much more enjoyable for me. I’ve been cheering for them to get together since the 3rd episode. The whole she’s a “95 pounds, doe eyed, bon-mot tossing, label-whoring, package f girly evil” line is one of my favourite in the series… and then later in the episode, Dan’s the one to comfort Blair, and get her to face her mother. Despite their obvious differences in social class, taste and values, they’re also very alike in their own way. They’re ambitious, smart and rather judgmental (especially of each other) in a very entertaining way. The best parts of Gossip Girl are when they join forces and scheme together, showing a less goody-two-shoe side of Dan. Blair is also always the one to point out Dan’s hypocrisy (unlike Serena) which I like, she’s the one that got him to admit that he wasn’t so different from the rich spoiled brats he’s always so critical of and I love that about them.
2. Puck/Rachel
The writers might not ship this and regard it as some random get together of two people trying to get over their real love interests, but I certainly don’t, and I’m sure neither do a lot of fans… In fact these two are so much more fun than the official love interests they have. The episode with Rachel was probably the first time Puck ever had character development beyond the whole bad boy who knocked up his best friend’s girlfriend thing. Rachel brought out a softer side of Puck, and Puck brought out a sexier side of Rachel I think… And when they had scenes together again, well, that was IMO the high point of Bad Reputation. Their scene together in Rachel’s bedroom when Puck admits that he doesn’t really want to be an a$$hole but can’t help himself some times, and Rachel admitting she was the same way with how critical she was of the other singers in the club; that was definitely one of my favourite scenes in the series.
1. Clark/Lois
And here’s the final one, the EPIC and ICONIC Lois & Clark! Sure, I may not like Clois in all it’s incarnations (particularly the movie versions) but it’s safe to say that I like them in most of them. The Clois of Smallville is definitely my favourite het ship, both before and after they get together (which I think is rare since I usually either like them either when they’re together, or when they’re not). Even as a couple they still kept up the bantering and light teasing which is always fun to watch. Though I no longer I watch Smallville, Clois was the reason I stuck with the show as long as I did, and even now I feel like I should go back and watch, if only for the clois bits since all the other parts of the show no longer holds my interest… And then of course there’s the Clois of the animated series which I thoroughly enjoyed as a kid, and the clois of Lois and Clark… I remember when I was a kid, seeing live action version of Superman for the first time with the Pilot of that show and thinking Terri Hatcher’s Lois Lane is the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. I’ve loved clois since then, even if Lois & Clark did start to get annoying in it’s later seasons. Anyway, this ship will always hold a special place in my heart, and so for that, it gets the no. 1 spot.
