I decided I really like this band. They have deeper lyrics than a lot of Christian bands in some of their songs... and I absolutely love this one:
This week I prayed one time
My phone it rang I put you on the other line
And now my thoughts they drift away
When these remain unaquainted with the ground
Unless my faith is put to the test
And I am forced to bow
Although I'm in this flesh
It doesn't mean you shouldn't have the best from me
From me
((chorus))
Even when my eyes are dry
Even when my soul is tired
Even when my hands are heavy
I will lift them up to you
It's not about how I feel
Oh, Lord, I am here for you
I exist for you
I close my eyes but all I see
Is a (black under black) bouncin squiggly lines <---(I couldn't understand what he was saying there...)
And this week's mistakes coming back to mind
But I will lift my voice
And make a joyful sound
Forget about me
I only get me down
Although I cannot see
It doesn't mean that I shouldn't say to You
To You
that's only some of it. I couldn't type fast enough to get all the lyrics... and there are other words I can't quite understand, but I feel like this one song says a whole lot. I think it rings true to a lot of us. A lot of us put God "on hold" anytime something else comes up. I love how they remind us that even when we're overwhelmed with guilt, we will lift our voices to God, because really, we DO only get ourselves down. Without God, we can't do anything... and our purpose here on earth (and also one of our purposes defined in the Purpose Driven Life series) is to worship Him. We exist for Him. I love it.
