In the olden days I used to party until the sun came up and I could still function the next day. Sorta. I swear that it's taken me a week to recover from my grad party last Saturday. It was the bottomless martini syndrome. Helpful friend tops you up all night so it always seems like you're on the first drink. While I consider myself a lightweight drinker these days, I still have to say that I could play the flute solo for the Beatles 'Hide Your Love Away' when we finaly got to jamming (after about 8 hours of martinis). I was pretty shocked as I was having trouble with quick chord changes on the guitar and thought there was a good chance I'd pass out if I tried a flute solo. Hey, even LVL came for the party, although she did the early shift. Still, it was great that she came. I don't think I'd have made it through this last semester without her support.
Working at the Faculty of Law is fairly decent. The most promising aspect is working on the alumni magazine and doing photography. Makes it seem like I'm not just 'settling' for desk job. But when you gotta pay the rent you can't be too choosey, I guess. I'm keeping the Malahat Review job and still doing freelance writing, desktop and photography, too. Got a Midsummer's Night theme wedding to shoot next weekend. But I can still barely pay the damn bills... what's THAT all about??? I hate money. I hate paying rent. Three-bedroom places in Victoria are so expensive--more expensive than what I'm paying now, which is too much. You people without kids, save your money, invest in real estate.
