thank goodness for great friends and re-connecting. i'd forgotten how amazing, genuine, and caring the people i knew are. it's so damn refreshing.
last night's dinner was
Brandied-Peach Pork Chops served with some roasted potatoes and sweet potatoes (totally thought of you my sweet potato queen ashley) and some green beans with mushrooms, tomato, garlic, and basil. phenomenal, it was one of the best sauces i have ever made/tasted i think. it's a simple, fast, and fun recipe...congrats to me for my first flambe, and the kitchen is still standing!
night before was another definite keeper, Curried Parsnip Soup. hummanuh hummanuh. the flavours were perfect, you could still taste the sweet parsnips because the curry wasn't too overpowering. it was the perfect compliment. if you want the recipe, request it and i'll type 'er up for ya. dessert was a nummy little
Maple-Cranberry Pudding.
also made these earlier this week,
Chocolate Caramel Pecan bars. veeeerry good, rich but not sickly. i kinda goofed and didn't cook the caramel long enough though so they were a little runny...but who cares. also, if i made them again, i may cut the crust down by half or at least a fourth. crusts are usually one of my fave aspects of bar cookies, but there was just a wee bit too much on these. or maybe i would make the same amount and just eat what i didn't put in the pan :)
oh and so Cloverfield? wow, what a shite movie. i can honestly say it was one of, if not the worst movie i have ever seen. i can appreciate good bad movies, but this wasn't even that. it is just a comlpete waste of time. ah! i could go on forever about how terrible it was, everything about it.
p.s. you need to be watching the cartoon Chowder on cartoon network. hamazing.
