- google maps gave bad directions and were detoured for about 1.5 hrs
+ arrived in time to hear minus the bear play "absinthe party at the fly honey warehouse" through the gates
+ caught the beginning of MGMT's set, left for boys noize
+ BOYS NOIZE BLEW MY BRAINS OUT
- caught the first few minutes of erol alkan; was not impressed
+ walked by and heard a little bit of kate nash and her cute accent
+ i don't think i've ever appreciated gatorade and walking around barefoot as much before
+ saw death cab for the first time despite them being my favorite band all throughout high school; they played some songs from narrow stairs, photo album, transatlanticism and of course, plans. ugh.
- missed hot chip
+ sat around listening to a little bit of rilo kiley; wanted to fall asleep
+/- you could hear kraftwerk EVERYWHERE YOU WENT (youtube videos looked nuts, though; kind of wish i watched more of them)
+/- M.I.A. ... what can i say? the most hyped show that started and ended the set off strong but everything in between was drunk rambling, yelling "TURN OFF THE LIGHTS" after she brought up 28975 people onstage, and a lot of gunshots. got old after a while. when it was good, it was good; when it was bad, it got pretty annoying.
+ saw a bit of animal collective; they are really freaking weird.
- missed mark ronson but i don't find him all that interesting; heard he had guests though
- missed yelle to see portishead
+ PORTISHEAD WAS INCREDIBLE
+/- didn't see flogging molly but you could hear them from anywhere; i wanted to see what it was all about but didn't feel like giving up my spot and getting aggro
+ the artist formerly known as prince, or as he's called now: prince. was late, morris day and some other dude along with sheila e pretty much dominated the first half of the set with prince adding in his ridiculous guitar solos... as entertaining as he is (i think the speculation of how he was going to arrive on stage was way funnier), it got kind of tedious. it was late, everyone was tired, but he didn't whip out any classics while i was there. left as he started up 1999. i later found out he covered radiohead's "creep" and the beatles' "come together". balls.
+ at least it didn't take 2 hours to get out of the parking lot!
boys noize
death cab for cutie (what up high school)
inside the sahara; i just really like the colors
the only picture i could get of portishead in the dark
prince's posse rolled deep
the rest are on facebook.
what a weekend. thursday: shenanigans at the ocpac, friday: girls' night (open sesame, elevation studios, satc), saturday: coachella, sunday: reliving, monday: ashley's surprise party, tuesday: 3 hours of sleep, same makeup from the night before, 8am midterm. cute. no final hurrah for check yo ponytail, though; i can't stop coughing. i blame it on the gross coachella air.
awkward moment of the week (last night): watching boys who don't know how to dance... dance. it tears me up inside.
