I just read an amazing story:
The Change by Valerie Martin. It's about an aging couple and their relationship and it's just perfect, completely honest and unforgiving and yet not mean-spirited at all. It has a subtle magical realism aspect but it's the sort of very very understated magical realism that I appreciate, which I don't even know if I could correctly describe as actual magical realism?
I immediately emailed it to my parents, lol, if that tells you anything.
