so I thought I'd write a lighthearted humorous kid!fic and then, erm, this happened? D:

Title: Clean Getaway

Pairing: Sulu/Chekov, unrequited Kirk/Sulu

Summary: Kirk and Chekov get turned into kids on a mission and Sulu has to look after them until help arrives. Hilarity ensues, and then angst

I've always wanted to do one but was waiting for proper inspiration to strike, strangely enough writing a totally debauched PWP made me want to like balance it out with something PG-13 and innocent ?!

I love the subtle hand you used for Kirk's conflict, his dialogue and mannerisms. It would've been so easy to be really blatant about what was going on with him, but this is more a credit to his character, and to kids in general.

Man rereading it, it's so easy to see how Sulu's exacerbating the situation totally obliviously, and Jim's like, desperate line of questioning about death, just ljkagadflg.

God, baby Chekov was so painfully adorable, I loved that line about his cheeks being inhumanly soft ;_; ALSO
"Da." Pavel grins, then bites his lip. "Hikaru, you were so big. Like a mountain." ngjkgfjajkgnekjgn.

this was so sweet, I loved reading Sulu dealing with the two of them.

Oh wow. The fic started out kind of on crack and very amusing, and then it evolved into this sad, atmospheric, dreamy piece. I mean, I knew it would change because of the summary, but it caught me off-guard nonetheless. One moment I was snickering at kid!Jim's attempts to impress Sulu, and then I felt so sorry for him. Wow.
