Michael Hurst

Will and I have started Netflixing Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and I am very happy about it. I really missed watching this show! I had so much fun making fun of it with Jeff, Diane, and Gail. Hercules is such a creepy pedophile, the special effects are hilarious, the acting is often deliciously cheesy, and the cleavage on the show is simply amazingly constructed.
My older brother Gabe and I used to like to watch really cheesy TV together. It started with Chuck Norris' show Walker: Texas Ranger (what is it with cheesy shows and titles that go "NAME: SOMETHING PRETENTIOUS"?), then Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and of course its spin-off, Xena: Warrior Princess. (See? the formula fits!) Then Gabe moved to college and I started taping Hercules and Xena. When he came home for breaks, we would watch the tapes together and then play around fake fighting and fake blocking with "whoosh" sounds like they did. I remember one Thanksgiving we played outside throwing carrots at each other and trying to catch or block them. haha. Such dorks. Anyways, I loved Hercules especially because I had a huge, 7th grade crush on Michael Hurst, who played Hercules' sidekick Iolaus

Look he is even eating a carrot HOW APPROPRIATE (and more than a little homoerotic), thanks Google.
Here is a more hilarious one of him handcuffed to Bruce Campbell! How much better could it get??

Sorry it's so tiny, it was either that or ridiculously huge so I am saving you from giant oiled chests. Heehee.
Anyways I remember being in 7th grade and looking up Michael Hurst on the old fashioned internets that they were back then, and finding out that he was a new zealander, and that he was THIRTY-FIVE. Being like twelve at the time, I felt very strange having a crush on a dude so much older but I did anyway!
Fast-forward to 2005, when I found out that Will was 35. I'm pretty sure either my first or second thought was "just like Michael Hurst!" Yes, Michael Hurst, who is I guess like 50 at this point, will always be 35 in my mind. Anyways, apparently I am doomed to have crushes on 35 year-olds, regardless of my age.
Anyways, my point is that we are watching Hercules and my crush on Iolaus/Michael Hurst is now stronger than ever. <3 <3
THE END.
