I cant believe it is summer. Finals have been over for a week, but it just doesn’t feel like it. Finals were good though- a bittersweet ending to an amazing year and it really was an amazing year. I finally found my little group of friends who like and appreciate me for who I really am. I can let loose around them, be free and not have to worry about being judged or looking stupid, because I know that they know me and don’t care about all the dumb mistakes I make… and it feels great.
The week of finals was crazy fun. After each final we all hung out in the parking lot in the back of our trucks just playing guitar, listening to music, and laughing. But we did end up moving truckfest (as its been called) to people’s houses where we can swim and have even more fun.
Work came fast though- the day after school ended, I started working, which is awesome. I landed a great job at the place my mom works. Believe it or not, my job is actually a lot of fun (well right now it is) Ive been sort of “in training” with this guy who has worked there for about 5 years, but its cool because I always though that people in the “real world” would be all uptight and strict and stuff, but the guy who has been training me is as nice as can be. Plus he’s hilarious, and doesn’t really take his job or the company seriously. When he began training me, he would explain to me how each job in the company could be approached in two ways…the way the company wants, and the way its actually done. We’ve had some interesting conversations, especially when he told me about all the jobs he did, which included biology teacher, car salesman, working in a psych ward, growing poinsettias, and owning a wood furniture business. That’s a lot of jobs for a 58 year old guy to have had…but also really cool, I mean talk about an interesting journey.
Aside from all the work I’ve been doing, (everyday for the past week and a half from 7 to 3) I’ve been having a lot of fun with my friends. On Monday, James had an awesome lan party, but my computer sucks, so I got to jump on the trampoline (and killed my ankle doing so). It was awesome. Then on Tuesday, I went to a dance and got to dress up all pretty in a
, I had a blast… At one point I even got Tarryn and Marisa to dance for all these old tennis players which was quite funny. Plus I dominated at the limbo contest. Then once the dance was over, we danced in the back of my truck with the radio cranked up… fun times.
Other than that, life’s been the same. I’ve been trying to keep up with riding, but with work and an actual social life, it can be kind of hard. Once I switch to working nights, it will definitely be easier to ride.
I’m going to try to update this stupid little thing more often, I promise. I just want to wait until I have something interesting to say.
