It is quite interesting, actually. My entire life has been spent in the name of academics so far, and any motivation was for my own gain. Of course, the event that caused me to come here changed that

I do, and that is the problem, as it were. If I continue to be so attached and you leave the asylum again, I do not know what I'll do.

In the beginning, that is what it was. I've never had emotions interfere like that before, so if you do things such as promise me you'll never leave and then say you wished he would take you with him . . . yes, it will be a problem.

Damn it, Zack, I want to believe that. You just have so many things happening with you, I cannot keep up, much less help you through them. I feel as if it will all clear up one day and you'll be gone, off to do whatever you are meant to do.

Not just when you went away for surgery.

No, you've got it wrong. In the beginning, when we first met, I was experimenting. By Christmas it was completely different. It has only become problematic within the past few days, and I waited because you had enough to worry about as it was.

Zack, after everything we have done, I feel that I can trust that. I just feel very . . helpless to help you through it at times, and it is quite unpleasant. After all you have done for me, it doesn't feel like it measures up very well.

And I hope you realize that I am trusting you with everything.
