Personally, I never understood the point behind love potions. If people are so desperate for companionship, they might as well seek it themselves. It's doubtful that a substitute, such as a potion, would please them in the long run. Besides, it's clear that the results were a complete and utter failure.

It seems that there's a fair amount of new arrivals as well. Unsurprising, really... It does seem to be fairly routine.
