In loving memory blah blah
I still haven't recovered from the loss of Scans Daily. There just isn't another comic discussion board or community or whatever that had broad appeal, many different posters and commenters and lacked the usual comics fanboy idiocy so prevalent in pretty much everywhere, especially on the official boards. Scans Daily had nothing to do with piracy, it was a pimping and discussion community after all. I can't even remember how many times I added things to my to buy list because of SD. I found Gail Simone through it and Deadpool, Suicide Squad, Promethea, Fables, Nextwave... Plus countless others I haven't got around to buying yet. And now it's gone because Peter David threw a hissy fit.
Oh yeah, DIAF doesn't count as a death threat either, PAD. It might be immature, but not an indication of actual violence. Fucking christ.
I think that PAD is a very good comics writer, but I will not read another thing he writes. The only one who suffers from that will be me, because the type of superhero stories he writes suit me well. He writes them as people first, superheroes next, if even then. X-Factor seems to be more about Madrox's detective agency and the people around him, most of whom just happen to have super powers, and the art is just wonderful. But no Madrox's excellent mini-series for me (a series I found out through Scans Daily, by the way) and no X-Factor. I just don't want to support the guy's work anymore.
In better "news", I completed FFX. I'm not sure if I actually won, because it was pretty much mutually assured destruction, but anyway, got the ending cut scene(s) so it must count for something. Thanks to my fantastic backseat gamers and J-RPG enablers hallowd and skinship, who stayed up with me till four in the morning to help me beat Sir Poofypants McHairrape (again!) and the final bosses and offer sarcastic commentary on the way. Also, the discussion and food eating thingies were good. A nerd party!
By the way, skinship, this might interest your tentacle-loving arse (edit: um ack, don't mean it that way though ;D). Sorry if it has been forwarded to you a thousand times already, but it's worth a gurgle giggle.
