It was interesting to take a vacation during the second week of the semester, but it actually calmed me down and put me in the right headspace to go back to school. I've been running almost full-tilt at something since January. I have a lot of good things to show for it, but getting away somewhere with redwoods and oceans really made me feel a lot better about it. And the Oregon Coast aquarium was awesome. Tillamook Cheese Factory, also awesome, in its own way. My family plans weird vacations.
Living in Fresno is working out, and has been better since getting back. Jeannette and I have worked out a lot of our differences; mainly, I think she gets me a little more now. When someone has met my father and dealt with him, a lot of the time my little turns of phrase and tone of voice get grotesquely misinterpreted. My stepsister is another issue, but we get along well for the most part. She also shaved her head, which is hilarious. All she has left are her bangs, which are kind-of-purple, kind-of-rotten-eggplant. Olivia is turning a year old on the 25th; she is an extraordinarily cute baby.
I'm taking a lot of classes I can get involved in this semester. I am just this close to being done and ready to start working on my career; I'm sending in my university applications in November. I hope that somehow I can start working while I finish my bachelors; a change of pace from school and actually seeing what social work is like is becoming very high on my list.
I've started writing a new story. It just kind of showed up on a whim. Its been almost a year since I wrote anything, so I hope that it sticks this time; getting busy and losing creativity makes me feel very discouraged in general. Being able to relax more has helped; not worrying about rent or roommates has helped some, and having a car to go from one city to the next when I feel like it helps too.
